Abstract:
| This paper explores the intersection of sustainable education and global citizenship, emphasizing the need to prepare students to address global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and social justice. The study adopts a qualitative approach based on document analysis and interviews with educators from international schools and universities. Findings indicate that embedding sustainability principles within curricula fosters critical thinking, ethical awareness, and responsibility toward the planet and society. Moreover, the integration of global citizenship education promotes intercultural understanding, empathy, and active participation in community development. The study concludes that sustainable education must move beyond environmental awareness to cultivate global citizens capable of leading transformative change through informed action and moral commitment. |
| الملخص تتناول هذه الدراسة العلاقة بين التعليم المستدام والمواطنة العالمية، مؤكدة أهمية إعداد الطلبة للتعامل مع التحديات العالمية المعاصرة مثل التغير المناخي وعدم المساواة والعدالة الاجتماعية. اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج النوعي من خلال تحليل الوثائق وإجراء مقابلات مع معلمين وأكاديميين من مدارس وجامعات دولية. أظهرت النتائج أن دمج مبادئ الاستدامة في المناهج يسهم في تعزيز التفكير النقدي والوعي الأخلاقي والمسؤولية تجاه البيئة والمجتمع. كما أن تضمين مفاهيم المواطنة العالمية يدعم التفاهم الثقافي، والتعاطف، والمشاركة الفاعلة في تنمية المجتمعات. وتخلص الدراسة إلى أن التعليم المستدام يجب ألا يقتصر على التوعية البيئية، بل يتجاوزها لبناء مواطنين عالميين قادرين على إحداث تغيير إيجابي من خلال الفعل الواعي والالتزام الأخلاقي |
