Abstract:
| This paper aimed to analyze and examine the role of the humanities in promoting and shaping civic values among individuals and society, with a particular focus on the mechanisms of learning and social change that contribute to fostering civic awareness and social responsibility. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical research design and was conducted on a sample of 100 male and female participants from Iraq. The findings indicated that the humanities have a significant positive impact on strengthening the dimensions associated with civic behavior among both males and females to a similar extent. The results also highlighted the importance of an educational environment based on dialogue and respect for diverse opinions in promoting positive citizenship values and reinforcing a sense of national belonging. Furthermore, the study demonstrated that the humanities serve as a fundamental tool for developing a system of civic values in the face of contemporary social challenges. Participants showed a clear awareness of the importance of the humanities in fostering civic behavior. The findings further revealed that the way knowledge is delivered plays a decisive role in reinforcing civic values, alongside the quality of educational content, which contributes to the development of critical thinking, social belonging, and community participation. The study recommended revising humanities curricula to promote civic values through practical as well as theoretical approaches, strengthening their connection to societal realities, and providing faculty members with training on modern teaching strategies that foster critical thinking and democratic values. |
| الملخص هدفت هذه الورقة البحثية إلى تحليل ودراسة دور العلوم الإنسانية في تعزيز وتشكيل القيم المدنية لدى الأفراد والمجتمع، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على آليات التعلم والتغيير الاجتماعي التي تُسهم في تنمية الوعي المدني والمسؤولية الاجتماعية. اعتمدت الدراسة منهجًا وصفيًا تحليليًا، وأُجريت على عينة مكونة من 100 مشارك من الذكور والإناث من العراق. أشارت النتائج إلى أن للعلوم الإنسانية تأثيرًا إيجابيًا كبيرًا على تعزيز الأبعاد المرتبطة بالسلوك المدني لدى كل من الذكور والإناث بدرجة متقاربة. كما أبرزت النتائج أهمية البيئة التعليمية القائمة على الحوار واحترام الآراء المتنوعة في تعزيز قيم المواطنة الإيجابية وترسيخ الشعور بالانتماء الوطني. علاوة على ذلك، أظهرت الدراسة أن العلوم الإنسانية تُعد أداة أساسية لتطوير منظومة من القيم المدنية في مواجهة التحديات الاجتماعية المعاصرة. وقد أبدى المشاركون وعيًا واضحًا بأهمية العلوم الإنسانية في تعزيز السلوك المدني. كشفت النتائج أيضًا أن طريقة تقديم المعرفة تلعب دورًا حاسمًا في تعزيز القيم المدنية، إلى جانب جودة المحتوى التعليمي، مما يُسهم في تنمية التفكير النقدي والانتماء الاجتماعي والمشاركة المجتمعية. وأوصت الدراسة بمراجعة مناهج العلوم الإنسانية لتعزيز القيم المدنية من خلال مناهج عملية ونظرية، وتوطيد صلتها بالواقع المجتمعي، وتزويد أعضاء هيئة التدريس بتدريب على استراتيجيات التدريس الحديثة التي تُعزز التفكير النقدي والقيم الديمقراطية |
